Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: Do I need to register to use GenomeSet?
A: No — registration is only required if you want to upload your own data, save analysis results, or manage personal projects. If you’re using public species genomes via the Species Explorer, you can analyze without an account.
Q2: What file formats does GenomeSet support?
A: Currently, GenomeSet accepts FASTA files for sequence data and CSV/TSV files for structured tables. Additional formats like GFF3 are automatically fetched from NCBI for selected organisms.
Q3: How many organisms can I select at once in Species Explorer?
A: You can select between 1 and 5 organisms/data at a time for comparative analysis.
Q4: Can I save my analysis results?
A: Yes — if you’re a registered user, you can save results, projects, and sequence subsets in your profile for future reference or sharing with collaborators.
Q5: Is it possible to analyze my own data alongside NCBI species genomes?
A: Yes — after uploading your data and selecting NCBI species in the Species Explorer, you can combine them in the Analyzer page for integrated analysis.
Q6: Are my uploaded files and saved projects private?
A: Yes — all user-uploaded data, saved projects, and results are stored securely and visible only to the account owner unless explicitly shared.
